About EOPCD
The Elaf Organization for Peace & Community Development (EOPCD) was founded in October 2022 with a vision to support communities affected by war and natural disasters. Officially registered in Uganda on August 28, 2024, EOPCD is dedicated to upholding international humanitarian values and ensuring sustainable development goals (SDGs) are met.
Our Vision and Mission
EOPCD is driven by a clear mission: to make our planet a place where individuals who have faced the horrors of war and the challenges of natural disasters can find refuge and rebuild their lives. Our commitment revolves around the following core objectives:
- Providing humanitarian aid to victims
- Supporting early recovery initiatives
- Facilitating sustainable development projects
- Empowering vulnerable communities, including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs)
History and Impact
Since our inception, EOPCD has actively engaged in projects that align with our mission. From June 2022 to February 2023, we successfully implemented programs in resilience, livelihood, and durable solutions for returnee communities in Sudan. Collaborating with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), EOPCD:
- Distributed seeds and agricultural tools to farmers in el Salam locality, South Darfur.
- Provided essential agricultural extension services and pest control.
Unfortunately, our efforts were interrupted due to the outbreak of war in April 2023. However, our commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of affected communities remains unwavering.
Our Approach to Community Support
EOPCD adopts a participatory approach in planning, implementing, and managing income-generating activities (IGA) targeted at:
- Refugees
- IDPs
- Vulnerable host communities, including women and youth
By offering training in peacebuilding and conflict management, EOPCD fosters peaceful cohabitation between IDPs, refugees, and host communities. Our exemplary team is equipped with skills in program and project management, negotiation, and facilitating local conflict resolution.
